Metronome | Mambor. Casino. Opera. Immovable.

KLESSIDRA | EDITED BY FRANCESCO GALLO MAZZEO

I got to know Renato Mambor many years ago, but his fame was known to me, one could say, always, ever since I started following and associating with the friends of Piazza del Popolo, Tano Festa from the confetti era, whom I saw throwing them in the back of Studio Soligo, Angeli who dedicated a greeting card to me, Schifano in the studio for his media works, photographing televisions, perpetually on. I had the opportunity to curate two major exhibitions of Festa and Angeli in Aosta, shortly after their deaths. Then came my Crossed Destinies published by Sellerio, which earned me great praise from Mario Schifano, for having historicised him with Angels and Festival.
My first visit to Mambor's was an event for me, among the wise works of this ethereal, Buddhist, refined man, which led me to a long acquaintance, with the publication of Observer.

The Nineties, in 2002 in Palermo and then onwards until his passing. Today, it is being revived in Cassino by friends Boni and Spatafora, in an exhibition that confirms his stylistic signature, his identity as an all-round artist, an inventor, a discoverer. In all his phases, in diversity and transformation, which make him a conscious traveller of temporality and spatiality, the constant element is lightness, luminosity, his constant style, as if a grand alphabet is being drawn, not arcane, not unknowable, but maieutic, attractive, seductive, which makes his pop anomaly a phenomenal fact, while for him it is always time to study, analyse, delve into secrecy, to make it relentless, noetic.
