The work

Andrea De Luca's figurative production revolves around a highly expressive painting style, in which the human figure, the landscape and memory become tools for telling an intimate and contemporary story. His works feature figures, faces, women and men caught in everyday life, embracing and urban or natural landscapes. However, the representation is not simply a mere rendering of reality: the forms are often synthesized, deformed or immersed in an intense pictorial material, transforming the subject into a kind of emotional reflection. A distinctive element is the relationship between order and disorder. De Luca's painting seems to build a balance through a free material and an expressive mark: colors, overlaps and brushstrokes contribute to creating images in which the recognizability of the figure coexists with a progressive dissolution of form.

Andrea De Luca

Painter, sculptor and musician, Andrea De Luca was born in Bologna in 1964. He shares the dynamism and generational energy of the 1980s, translating the suggestions of his reference reality into creative impulse. Alongside the punk phenomenon, he founded the band ‘Radio City“ with his brother Enrico and participated in the first biennial in Thessaloniki with the album ”Sobborghi“. In those years, in addition to his songwriting and painting activities, he attended the studio of the painter Tonino Gottarelli in Imola, his mentor. He has been a trainer for years at an organization that prepares young people of various nationalities and social backgrounds for work.
