Vitaliano Marchetto, a sculptor of Milanese origin, was born in 1965 and came to know Liguria at a very young age, having attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Genoa. Marchetto chose the Liguria region as the location for his studio because of the better climate than in the large Italian cities where he exhibits. In the early part of his professional career, he lived in New York and for fifteen years in the south of India, where he studied ancient sculpture on his own. His works are exhibited in Beirut, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, in California, Paris, and in Italy. Since 2018, Vitaliano has been working in teams, creating WA, a project that takes its name from a Japanese word that translates to harmony and peace through the study of Eastern cultures and martial arts such as Aikido.
