HELIDON
XHIXHA
In his sculptures, steel becomes light and, in turn, the mirror-like smoothness of the surface gives rise to a bewitching illusionistic process, animated by unexpected appearances, light and floating, ready to regenerate or disappear at the slightest movement of those who stand before it.
THE ARTIST.
Helidon Xhixha was born in Durres, Albania, in December 1970. A child of art, he spent his childhood in the studio of his father Sali from whom he inherited a strong passion for “fine arts” but especially for sculpture. He began attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana but then decided to move to Italy.
In 1998, thanks to a scholarship, he had the opportunity to attend Kingston University in London where he honed techniques in printmaking, sculpture and photography. In February 1999 he graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, Milan. Since the early 2000s he has been mounting solo exhibitions in galleries around the world.
