The work

Elena Rede’s poetics develops around the concept of transforming matter into spiritual and emotional experience. Her sculptures — horses, monumental busts, human and symbolic figures — evoke an imaginary world suspended between classicism and contemporaneity, where form is never definitively described but suggested through fragments, corroded surfaces, and plastic tensions. The horse, a recurring subject in her work, becomes a symbol of vital energy, freedom, and archetypal memory, while the busts and human figures assume a quasi-sacred and timeless dimension. Through bronze, resins, oxidations, and material materials, the artist constructs works that explore the fragility of existence and the search for inner essence, creating a continuous dialogue between classical beauty, spirituality, and contemporary sensibility.

Elena Rede

Elena Rede - by her birth name Elena Re Depaolini - is an eclectic and refined artist, already present at the Venice Biennale and at many other high-profile events (noteworthy is the recent exhibition “From Giorgio de Chirico to Elena Rede”), a figure known in the international panorama of contemporary art, to the point of being included among the top Italian sculptors in the most authoritative yearbook in the field: the Catalogo dell’Arte Moderna (Editorial Giorgio Mondadori). From her childhood, she has always loved painting and sculpting horses, using the sawdust from her grandfather’s workshop. After completing her Master’s degree, she attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and worked alongside great masters. In sculpture, she deepened her studies by working directly in various artistic workshops, but it was the meeting with Igor Mitoraj that led her to follow her true vocation: the love for figurative art with archetypal references. Active also in the field of jewelry art, with works recognized by the leading figures in the sector, he writes, paints and sculpts in his workshops in Milan and Alassio. Some of his works are housed in some of the most important private and public collections, both Italian and foreign. Among the most important exhibitions are those at Villa Doria Pamphilj in Rome, at Art Basel in Miami, at the Italian Pavilion at the Milan Expo, at the Venice Biennale, at the Lucia Matalon Foundation in Milan and much more. Giovanni Faccenda, Vittorio Sgarbi, Philippe Daverio and Dario Fo have all been interested in his work.
