The artist works primarily with cement, from which he models warriors with marked, scarred and distorted faces, whose appearance, according to his poetic vision, has been a result of an internal war that led to the subsequent self-destruction. For the artist, man is on the verge of self-destruction because he has lost his spirituality, preferring much more to appear in society than to be. The warriors depicted are fighting an internal war to try to understand their place in the world, to resolve various internal conflicts until they reach a state of pacification with themselves and to consciously accept the self-destructive destiny that unites all humans. The artist also creates murals depicting youthful faces. Their expression, their silence, once again (like the sculptures of the warriors) place them beyond the temporal dimension. The subjects’ gazes are serious and they look intently at the observer. The technique used recalls Kiefer’s material dimension. In this case too, matter is overlaid with matter, which Marchetto then works on and cleans up, until he achieves the imagined face. Unlike Kiefer, who constructs his own visions in the landscape context and with dreamlike suggestions and various references to sacred and philosophical literature, Marchetto aspires to timelessness, beauty as the key to a reading of the world.

In addition to concrete as his preferred sculptural element, the artist also uses other poor and unconventional materials such as iron and limestone.
